El martes fui al centro de San José y visité el Museo Nacional de Costa Rica. Fue interesante y llena de historia y cosas culturales. Fue muchas cosas que yo puedo usar en mis clases de español. Tuesday I went to downtown San Jose and the National Museum of Costa Rica. It was interesting and full of history and cultural things. There were many things that I can use in my Spanish classes.
El jueves fui a la ciudad de Cartago. Cartago fue el capital original de Costa Rica antes de San José. Visité un lugar que se llama Las Ruinas. Fue un catedral que la cuidad no pidieron completar porque de demasiados terremotos. Después, fui a la Basílica de la Virgen de Los Ángeles. Fue muy bonita. Esta imagen de la virgen se llama <<La Negrita>> porque es un ídolo hecho de piedra volcánica. Había gabinetes abajo del catedral adonde la gente que han rezado para milagros han mandado devociónes a la virgen para dar gracias. Son cosas hecha de plata en formas diferentes.
Thursday I went to the city of Cartago. Cartago was the original capital of Costa Rica before San Jose. I went to a place called The Ruins. It was a cathedral that had every time they tried to continue building it, an earthquake hit and destroyed it. So it remains unfinished. Afterwards we went to the Basilica of the Virgen of the Angels. It was very beautiful. The image of the Virgen there is called "la Negrita" because it is made of balcony volcanic rock and it's really small. There are tons of cabinets underneath the cathedral full of devotions and idols that people who had prayed for miracles and cures had sent back to the cathedral in thanks to the Virgen. They are things made out of silver in many different shapes.
El sábado fui en un crucero a la Isla Tortuga. Pasé el día en la playa y fue un día maravillosa! Vi muchos animales en la isla. Las islas tienen sus nombres porque aparecen como tortugas en el agua. Nadé mucho en el Gulfo Nicoya porque el agua fue tan refrescante! El crucero en el catamaran fue buenísimo. Nunca he viajado en este tipo de transportación antes.
Saturday we went on a cruise to Tortuga island. I spent the day on the beach and it was wonderful! I saw many different animals on the island. The islands get their names because they look like turtles floating in the water. I swam a lot in the Gulf of Nicoya because the water was warm and refreshing. The cruise in the catamaran was really great! I have never traveled in this type of boat before.
Hoy voy al tour de Café Britt adonde el mejor café de Costa Rica están crecido y tostado. Fue interesante aprender mucho sobre el café y por supuesto compré muchos variedades para mi familia.
Today was the tour of Cafe Britt where the best coffee in Costa Rica is grown and roasted. It was interesting to learn a lot about the coffee and of course to buy many varieties for my family.
